Netpex has been delivering Semi-Independent Living Support Services to Looked After Children and Young People since 1995.

CHALLENGE

Netpex aims to prepare, equip and support all their clients in acquiring the necessary skills to live independently. This is achieved through direct one to one support work from experienced, qualified support workers.

All the Netpex units are staffed 24/7 and all support workers, night or day, work towards the same goal by supporting their client group as well as keeping them safe and healthy.

All service users are booked in and then taken through their support package, consisting of accessing Education & Training facilities, accessing all health services for their annual checks, evaluating their independent livings skills through direct one to one work.

The services have expanded to include 24-hourly staffed accommodation, standalone accommodation and outreach services. Netpex currently has 11, 24-hourly staffed semi-independent provisions offering therapeutic and self-centred care and support.

The issue for Netpex was that their critical staffing was composed of citizens from non-E.U. countries and that their clients are comprised of vulnerable youth.

Access to sensitive private data, securing that data and acquiring and processing the data was a major issue for the company, which was starting from scratch in developing a data protection/GDPR program.

With staff coming from overseas, there was an additional issue of data flows into and out from the U.K. when recruiting and background checks were being undertaken.

SOLUTION

We undertook a thorough review as to the exisiting status, identified the issues facing Netpex and undertook a standard GDPR gap analysis.

After issuing a detailed report for the senior management, we provied all documentation required to commence, develop and mature a compliant data privacy program.

Areas covered included the means of maintaining data integrity, security and availability, together with all policies, procedures and recording documentation.

RESULTS

Netpex has continued building their brand and accomodation units and currently owns 11 units with 24-hour support for their clients. Their plans include expansion of geographical scope via a larger number of participating borough councils and in the number of units available.
